Metal stairs in industrial loft

If I thought that the steps were a challenge I was a little blue-eyed...
The handrails were just as difficult!

I worked with polystyrol profiles again because it is easier to glue the same two materials together. For a minute, I thought about using wood but quickly dropped that idea.
I wanted to have them all glued and completed before I spray-painted - so that I could fix them to the landing and it was all done. The plan was a good one... but then once in it still needed adjustments and tiny spacers.
Well, it is done now and I am mighty proud of it!!
I have even put some screws into the steel construction to make it look as real as possible.
And the spotlights for the lower floor are well hidden in the real balsa flooring. The back of the room box looks a little adventurous... hihi

The rear wall warped a little - so, I got some picture rails (the metal ones that are fastened to the top of the walls) and glued them with epoxy to the back. It did the trick...

And the entrance door is in as well. Do you think I should put an EXIT sign on it?

I spent last weekend in Paris with a friend and we scouted mini shops as well. The best one was La BoĆ®te au Joujoux where I found the bike for this scene. They have the 'regular' dollhouse stuff but the odd 'fine scale' goods as well.

wonderful detail work - and all this for € 14 !!!!

I have completed the roof already - well, the inside of it. This is an old building but when renovating something like this it definitely needs an insulated roof and all... not just bare corrugated iron!
cutting the stryol curvy to fit the roof shape

spray-painted and drilled 0.8mm holes for the jewelry wire
Structure held together with jewelry wire
But before putting the roof on, I have to complete the inside because I need easy access. So, I guess next will be a stainless-steel kitchen to fit the style...

And BTW: the video of Farmhouse Room Box is now online - complete with Swiss sound :-)

Enjoy summer!

Entrance finished!

A month has gone already since my last blog entry! Enjoying outside was further up on my list than working on the house - but I did finish off a few things...

The advantage: it gave me a bit of distance from it all and I suddenly knew how to furnish and decorate so that it looks realistic.

Decided to use modern coat hooks and wall lamp as a contrast to the door
Look, I just unpacked the shoes home from Patricia Santi!
Tried to make the sneakers from Pepper - but that was even extremely fiddly.
So I settled for espadrilles...
It is the door from Pipi that makes it all so magic!
And all my baskets now found a home ...
And Francisco's lamp looks perfect on this commode.
Please note the electrical socket ... ;-)
(Staircase not attached yet - hence not straight)

New table lamps I made! My passion....
a lamps, of course...

with wood
with beads
with stone
Pictures for the lounge
Did the flooring on the upper floor using balsa strips - ready for decorating now
and I filled the dresser shelves
Does anybody have an idea how to make the tile roof (spanish barrel type)? The plastic sheets look terrible and real clay tiles are going to be too heavy. Gratful for any ideas..

Miniature Kitchen with natural stone walls

I have been pottering around quite happily and my house is now starting to take shape.

First:
the kitchen, which I did twice because I did not like the first more rustic version.. it somehow competed with Pipi's door.

...see what I mean?
Pierluigi's gas hob is perfect for a French country house and I was glad he gave me a couple of extra dials for the oven. For the first time I used these tiny LED lights from Nalladris. They are a little whiter than the ones I usually use but: they have white wire and no resistor I need to hide somewhere!

Second:
made a few pieces of furniture
- A console in the entrance hall using the baskets I got from Louise Pendereich and lamp from Francisco.

- A country style dresser for the dining area. First bought this one but this was way too big for a private home - I never noticed that it was meant for shop furnishing;-).

And third:
I completed all the wiring and things I needed access to - and then came the big moment where I could put in the ceiling!

Now, it was time to fit all the ceiling hanging lamps, especially my Ingo Maurer Zettel lamp!

The chairs are standard stuff: broke off the back, gave it an angle to make the chair more realistic, repainted and recovered. The table is standard as well but I only used the leg and made a new top.

Great to share this diary with you all :-)

Industrial aspects

Last week, I joined the two containers, did the wiring and the floor. I  found these great basswood panels at architekturbedarf.de and took a bit of a shortcut since I wanted a light and non-glossy floor ;-). Worked like a charm - except that not all of these boards were identical in color and it took a bit of fiddling around to give it a uniform look. If it was single boards this would have looked natural, but with 6 in a row it definitely looked odd! Next time I make a note to them when I order so that they select the panels according to color...
Centre unit not attached yet - but needed to see what it would look like ;-)
I then was able to measure the exact base frame, cut out the openings for the prongs of the fork lift and inserted the hooks for the closing things for the doors.
Because I definitely was not keen on producing 16 identical 1mm thick (!) corners by hand I had them done in 3D printing a while ago - ready when the big day comes.
Here the parts I worked with
.. resulting in realistic lower framework

Next were the hinges and fittings on the (one and only) original container door. That took some thinking because I wanted it to open so that one can see the utility part with the electrical main board and boiler behind it. I put a socket in there as well for attaching the lights that will be in the roof part.

So, it now looks very impressive with all these fitting and rods :-) The opening next to it is for the house door - still undecided on what this should look like.
Just need the lock for the chain... I will eventually find one in the right size.

And just for the fun of it: the letterbox is ready for the postman!
