Modern minimalistic wood house

I could not wait for this new project! It has been on my mind for a while - and my loot from Chicago is basically for this..

Here a screen shot of the drawing. The upper part walls will not be see-through. But it will have a recessed window front and - if possible at all - a gallery inside. On the plan it seems to work out.. but let's see if it is really looking generous enough.

I had to figure out which side(s) of the house can be removed - it has to be the west and east sides. I would have preferred the front with the two storey window, but with the roof overhang this did not really make sense.

As always, I work with Kappa Foam Board and cover this with basswood veneer. This is probably not as economical as working directly with wood, but I like the ease of handling and having a 'light-weight' house.

Heck, I don't think I ever worked so precise! 1/2mm differences are bothering me .. how nerdy can you get? And then: ONLY mitred window frames from 2mm styrene L-shape. Haha, now we know how nerdy one can get 😉

I got a bit bored with making walls and windows... made the clothes rack for the entrance, adapted from Töjbox

Mh.. I probably have to fill it some more. But making mini clothes is not my idea of fun..

More built-ins (cupboards in the lounge) because it is easier to work with the walls laying flat..

Leather for the handles and wood for the door hande

Built-in blackboard - but I need a left-handed person to do the writing..

Bedrooms Provencal

My nativity model (last blog entry) is ready in scale 1:10 - but mary, joseph and family have not made it from the U.S. to Switzerland yet - maybe they are having too much fun in California 😉
Well, no photoshooting for x-mas card this year. But I am ready for next Christmas 👍

In the meantime I have completed the two bedrooms upstairs.

The proportions of the rooms were not cosy - so I added ceilings instead of leaving them open to the roof - worked!
I divided them with a wardrobe made with wood veneer. Gives it that country-side look.

Mum wanted hers with wallpaper and a bedside lamp from Miniarquitect (she has excellent taste...)

I did mine in a more Provencal style. The bedcover is a knitting pattern Mum started some 30 years ago, never finished it - but kept it! (This would not have happened to me: I am not a collector and things get thrown away....). Perfect color and size, just had to knit the one ending 😃

Electrical candle: made with Fimo, a candle light from Nalladris, and bought some of these cylinders the florists use for putting single flowers in water. There is a glass workshop for disabled persons nearby and they cut it for me into the right length. I was lucky: if the glas were Pyrex (and most of e.g. lab equipment is) they could not have have cut it! This was quite an exercise beause for them it was not routine work and it was all trial-and-error.

Busy with landscaping and roof right now...

Starting with the interior

The siding containers have is not in the usual wave form. It would have been too easy to pick this up at a stationary store...

Internet search does it and I found the perfect one at an affordable price - but in the USA!

Since they are not delivering to Switzerland my friend Cindy (thanks..) will act as a courier and bring it to Switzerland towards the end of the month. Patience ...

This means that I cannot work on the container. So, I decided to start with the center block where I do not depend of wall measurements.

Last year I picked up a 2mm PVC sheet during my holidays in France where I usually spend half a day at Castorama, a super homebuilding shop. And this PVC sheet was now perfect for building the build-in cupboards with a sleek and functional look.

Since the container is higher than a usual room and I wanted to utilize every centimeter of space I made them right to the top. But: how to get there? Problem solved with installing a removable ladder :-)

But where would I store this ladder in a 30m2 house? It never stops, does it?

Next step: kitchen on the back side of this panel...
